First impressions of the 3G iPhone
So, I have my 3G iPhone in my grubby little hands. Initial reaction is obviously one of complete overexcitement, together with a realisation of just how grubby my hands are - that shiny black back sure does pick up fingerprints.
However, there are numerous improvements that make it still the most exciting thing I've seen in a couple of months. A big one for me is that fact that you can now remove the SIM card (they even provide a little prodder). That's probably only useful for me, since I have my own O2 SIM I wanted to use in the review model. Still, it's an indication that Apple has become a lot less proprietry with this model - something that's reflected throughout.
With the dawn of third party apps, Apple seems to have said "ok, here's your basic iPhone - it's now up to the developers to make it all it can be". Amen to that, I say.
And if you're worried about availability, don't. O2 hopes that everyone who desperately needs an iPhone in the next couple of weeks will get one, and they're receiving new stock on a weekly basis. There's less positive news about the white version - this isn't available at lauch, and though O2 will be stocking it at some point, there's no indication as to when this might be (or indeed, why it's not now).
I've yet to load the phone up with apps, but it's what I'll be dedicating the next few hours to. I'm most excited about the apps that use the GPS functionality - Twitterific displays location info for Tweets so you know when your friends are in the vicinity. Genius.
Well, I'm off to play. Keep checking back - I probably won't be able to help but to give you hourly updates.

Rumour: Macbook Touch in the works?
When Apple made their none-too-shabby earnings announcement this week, hints were dropped that their forthcoming profit margins were affected by a forthcoming 'mystery product'. Apple zealot's ears perked up and the rumour mill has gone into overdrive as a result.
The MacBook Touch is the latest potential candidate, and it looks hawt. There's a touchscreen screen slightly smaller than a Macbook screen, multitouch, a full Mac OS, GPS and accelerometer. In fact, by the sounds of it it's going to be like a really big, better featured iPhone.

Rumour: Apple Nano to revert to old style?
If you were a fan of the older style Nano, with its longer body and curved edges, you're in luck. Rumour has it it's making a reappearance, in order to accommodate a new larger screen. There have been murmurings of a multicoloured body, but thankfully, this doesn't seem to be the case.
Slated to appear 'later in the year', this mock-up seems to take lots of cues all the way back from the iPod Mini. There's also been similarities drawn between this and the Zune.

Rumour: Apple preparing an iPhone Nano? WOW
This one needs to be taken with a firm pinch of salt - rumour has it that Apple is preparing for the launch of an iPhone Nano, which would have less functionality, and cost in the region of £150 on PAYG. Details include the fact that it might have a scroll wheel on the back, and that the internet functionality will be limited.
The source is the always-popular 'O2 insider', who suggests that this phone would see a Christmas launch. Do we believe them? Well, producing smaller, cheaper versions of grown-up products is a strategy that's worked for Apple in the past, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility...

New - iTunes 7.7 available
We all thought iTunes 7.7 would hit some time in the last morning, but according to grumble at the network, it looks like it is now available through software update Apple. The biggest characteristic mentioned in the new version of iTunes ability to control or touching the iPhone iPod. I tried to grab him, but my iTunes say that it is the latter. Zhuzhzhanie Ho….
